A Mixed Bag

It's 9:15 a.m. and I'm open and ready to go. I keep trying to figure out if varying weather patterns cause differences in number of visitors to Afton Station. Rain and snow are always a factor, but what about other more subtle changes? Today we're trying damp and foggy. A disabled semi parked in front of the Station might have a negative impact on number of visitors. However, a mechanics truck just arrived, so maybe the truck will be out of here soon.

____________

The dampness and fog dissipated early and the sun was out for most of the afternoon, bringing out 15 visitors for the day. They came from Harlingen TX, Pittsburgh PA, Riverton KS, and Tulsa, Fairland, Sand Springs, and Nowata, OK. Crazy Legs Walker came early to deliver some papers and stayed for a while. Later in the day my friends Ron Warnick and Emily Priddy dropped in on a Sunday afternoon Route 66 cruise. Another fellow named David Kame came in because he'd seen us on "Discover Oklahoma" and liked the similarity of his name to David's... just one letter apart. One visitor from Tulsa is the proprietor of Ella's Deli on 11th St, which is Route 66 in Tulsa. Another was looking for a picturesque "roadhouse" to use as background for a music video. The Harlingen, TX folks just bought a '35 DeSoto Airflow similar to ours. The folks from Fairland were taking a test drive in their new RV. T'was an interesting day.

Here's "my" field this morning. Not much growth since I took the last photo.
