Carnival!

There's a carnival on Route 66!  If you're in the Red Fork area of West Tulsa and want some fun this weekend, follow Southwest Blvd. to the old Crystal City Shopping Center.  It's not a big production, as carnivals go, but the cool part is that Crystal City actually was once the site of an amusement park, so those who were around Tulsa from the '20s to the '50s, can visit and bring back a few old Route 66 memories.
There's no roller coaster at this little carnival, but the tradition can be felt just by taking a spin on the ferris wheel or seeing the smiles on kids' faces.
The activity is being sponsored by the Tulsa Young Professionals.

What?! Street Cred is scheduled and advertised for next weekend (13th and 14th)! I wonder if they set up the carnival early. I was planning to drive by this evening to check the progress of the painting of the buildings across from Ollie's on my way to dinner tonight, but I'm not waiting. I'm going right now to see what's going on.

Haven't gotten up there yet to see what's going on. How nice for the kids to have the carnival for 2 weekends. The Tulsa Young Professionals Street Cred project--Red Fork Revival--starts next Friday (13th) and the carnival is advertised as part of the festivities. http://www.redforkmainstreet.com/Events.html
It should be great fun if TYPRo manages to pull off anything like last year's Pearl District Street Cred. So, Everyone--come on over to Red Fork.
