Two great images have come across my desk just today, both of Afton around the turn of the century. Both appear to be of the Dawson Hotel, which was once one of the largest buildings in the town. In the top photo, we see a parade passing by and some handsomely dressed young ladies riding in a horse cart decorated with flowers.
How different things are now here in Afton and Route 66. And how much I wish I could be back there for just one day to see what Afton was like when it was such a busy and celebratory place. .
Images are from "Forgotten Oklahoma".
